Groom walks 7 kilometres to wedding after flash floods shut Jammu-Srinagar highway

With flash floods cutting off National Highway 44 in Jammu Kashmir, a groom, Hashkhor Ahmad, walked over 7 km to reach his wedding venue.
“I am getting married and now we have to walk. We left at 6 am, parked the cars nearby, and continued on foot,” he told ANI.Ahmad said if the road remains blocked, he’ll return on foot with his bride. “If the road isn’t fixed, we’ll walk again. I urge the government to clear NH44. Many people, including children, are stranded.”Union Minister Jitendra Singh praised the Army for setting up medical aid camps and distributing food and water.Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors and avoid the highway. Schools in the region remain shut. Three people, including two children, have died due to landslides.
