Cyber Cell Recovers Over ₹27 Lakh in Online Financial Fraud Cases in Handwara

Handwara : In a significant breakthrough, the Cyber Cell of District Police Handwara has successfully solved multiple online financial fraud cases, recovering a total of ₹27,39,005. This includes ₹11 lakh frozen during the current year, 2025, alone. Out of the total amount recovered, nearly ₹16 lakh has already been returned to the accounts of the victims who had lost their money. The fraud cases involved various types of cybercrime such as online job scams, fake investment schemes, fraudulent KYC update links, deceptive credit or bank SMS alerts, and impersonation frauds. Victims ranged from civilians and government employees to defence personnel across different parts of the district.

The Cyber Cell attributed the successful recoveries to a coordinated effort involving timely court interventions, proactive complaint redressal, and advanced cyber-investigation tools.

Police officials have urged the general public to remain vigilant while dealing with online transactions, avoid clicking suspicious links, and report any financial fraud immediately for timely action.

The Handwara Police reaffirmed their commitment to fighting cybercrime and protecting the financial security of citizens in the digital space.
