Govt Failing Its Mandate, Fruit Trucks Still Blocked on Highway: MP Aga Ruhullah

Says Silent Representatives Will Face Consequences Too.

Srinagar, Sep 16 (KNC): National Conference leader Aga Ruhullah on Tuesday accused the government of failing its basic mandate, saying that despite repeated assurances, fruit trucks are still being blocked on the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway.Addressing media persons, Aga Ruhullah as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said, “Those whom we entrusted with our vote seem unwilling to act. If political representatives remain silent at this stage, they too will face consequences. Silence will not protect them—this is a struggle, and everyone will have to stand up.”He stressed that horticulture, agriculture, and allied sectors form more than 75 percent of J&K’s economy, with horticulture alone contributing seven times more than tourism. “Yet, growers are being deliberately targeted through highway disruptions. Even today, when the highway is technically open, fruit trucks are not being allowed to move. This pattern has been repeated every season, with trucks stopped until fruit rots,” he said.Ruhullah added that while trucks are currently being diverted via Mughal Road, the real solution lies in ensuring unhindered movement on the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway. “The government’s responsibility is to protect our economy. If they cannot even ensure smooth passage of fruit trucks, then they are failing their mandate to the people,” he said. (KNC)
