Private Schools Across J&K Shut in Mourning After Pahalgam Tragedy: PSAJK Condemns Sensational Media Coverage

In the wake of the horrific and senseless attack in Pahalgam that left dozens dead and many more injured, the Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) has expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the victims and their families. In a powerful show of unity and grief, private schools throughout the region observed a one-day closure to honor the memory of the innocent lives lost. PSAJK acknowledged and thanked all its member institutions for their heartfelt support and for standing with the bereaved in this hour of immense tragedy.“We share the pain of the affected families and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” a PSAJK spokesperson said. “This collective closure was not only a tribute to the departed souls but also a message of solidarity, empathy, and peace.”The association also took a moment to appreciate those media outlets that displayed journalistic maturity and ethical responsibility in reporting the incident. “We are thankful to the responsible sections of the media whose sensitive coverage helped maintain public calm and communal harmony,” the statement read. However, PSAJK did not mince words in condemning certain media channels that, it said, indulged in divisive, sensationalist reporting driven by the pursuit of TRPs. “The spreading of misinformation and communal narratives during such a sensitive time is shameful and harmful to the social fabric of our region,” PSAJK asserted. The association reaffirmed its commitment to promoting unity and compassion, urging the public to reject hatred and instead embrace empathy and peace in the face of adversity.
