Young Muslim man from MP offers to donate his kidney for Hindu preacher

Itarsi, Madhya Pradesh : In a remarkable gesture of communal harmony, a 26-year-old Muslim man from Madhya Pradesh has offered to donate one of his kidneys to Hindu spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj, who has been suffering from chronic kidney disease for nearly two decades.

Arif Khan Chishti, an online consultant and legal documenter based in Itarsi, recently submitted a formal request to the local District Collector and the saint himself, expressing his willingness to donate his kidney. Khan described the Vrindavan-based saint as “a symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity.”Premanand Maharaj, 56, is a revered figure in the Radha Vallabh Sampradaya and has been undergoing dialysis for around 18–19 years due to polycystic kidney disease. Despite his deteriorating health, he continues to adhere to his daily spiritual routines and remains an active presence in the religious community.Khan’s offer has drawn attention for its rare example of interfaith compassion, especially in an atmosphere often marred by religious tensions. “I see Maharaj ji as a spiritual personality who transcends religious boundaries,” Khan stated in his letter.Local authorities have acknowledged receipt of the offer and are expected to follow due medical and legal procedures to assess compatibility and viability.
